Terms of service
Last updated 9 October 2026
These terms apply when you use tinytopo.com and the Tiny Topo editor (the “service”), operated by Tiny Topo (“we”, “us”). By using the service you agree to them. If you don’t agree, please don’t use it.
1. The service
Tiny Topo lets you create 3D terrain models of places on Earth from public elevation data and map imagery, and download them as images, videos and 3D files. Some features need a free account; others need a paid plan or a Print Pack, as described on the pricing page.
2. Your account
- You sign in with a Google account. You must be at least 16 years old, or have permission from a parent or guardian.
- Keep your Google account secure; you’re responsible for what happens under your Tiny Topo account.
- You can delete your account at any time from your account page. Deleting it stops future payments and removes your data as described in the privacy policy.
3. Plans, payments and renewals
- Payments are processed by Polar Software, Inc. (“Polar”), which acts as our merchant of record: Polar sells you the plan or pack, charges your card, handles sales tax and VAT, and issues receipts. Polar’s own terms apply to the payment.
- Subscriptions (Pro and Maker) renew automatically at the end of each monthly or yearly period until you cancel. You can cancel at any time; you keep the plan until the end of the period you paid for and aren’t charged again.
- Upgrades and plan changes take effect immediately. When you switch between paid plans, the difference is charged pro rata.
- Monthly allowances (downloads and videos) reset at the start of each billing period; on the Free plan, on the 1st of each month (UTC). Unused allowance doesn’t carry over. Downloading the same model again within 7 days doesn’t count again.
- A Print Pack gives 5 model downloads, valid for 12 months from purchase. Pack downloads are used after your plan’s allowance for the period.
- We may change prices for future periods. We’ll tell you at least 30 days before a change affects your subscription.
- Refunds are covered by our refund policy.
4. Fair use
To keep the service fast and affordable for everyone, the number of models you can build each day is limited (for example 30 a day on the Free plan), and requests are rate limited. Don’t try to get around limits, for example with many accounts or automated requests, and don’t scrape, overload or attack the service.
5. What you may do with your models
- Personal use (all plans). You may print, frame, share and give away what you make, and post images and videos online with the credits shown in the editor.
- Commercial licence (Maker). With an active Maker plan you may also sell physical prints made from model files (STL, 3MF) you downloaded while subscribed. This licence continues for files downloaded while your Maker plan was active.
- Third-party data. Models are built from data owned by others: elevation data (open data) and map imagery from providers such as Esri and Google. Imagery shown in images, posters, videos and textured models remains subject to those providers’ terms and attribution requirements, which may restrict commercial use. The credits page lists the sources.
- Free-plan downloads carry a watermark or an engraving; please don’t remove it.
6. Content you share
When you create a share link, the place, settings and preview image become visible to anyone with the link. Don’t put anything unlawful or offensive in model names or base text. We may remove share links or text that break these terms.
7. Availability and accuracy
We work hard to keep Tiny Topo available and correct, but the service is provided “as is”. Elevation data and imagery can contain errors or be out of date. Models are for display and enjoyment, not for navigation, engineering, planning or safety decisions.
8. Liability
Nothing in these terms limits liability that can’t be limited by law, including for fraud or for death or personal injury caused by negligence. Otherwise, we aren’t liable for indirect or consequential losses, and our total liability to you for any claim is limited to the amount you paid us in the 12 months before the claim. If you are a consumer, you keep all the rights the law of your country gives you.
9. Ending the service
You can stop using Tiny Topo at any time. We may suspend or close accounts that seriously or repeatedly break these terms. If we ever close the service, we’ll give you reasonable notice and refund unused time on paid subscriptions and unused Print Pack credits.
10. Changes to these terms
We may update these terms. For significant changes we’ll give notice on the site or by email before they apply. Continuing to use the service after a change means you accept the new terms.
11. Law
These terms are governed by the laws of the country where we are established, without affecting mandatory consumer protections in your country of residence.
